About the Festival and Wide Angle
The Who Are You? Youth Media Festival gives 300 youth from 5th – 12th grade an opportunity to showcase their talents in video, photography, poetry, performance, and fine art in a month‐long celebration at CENTERSTAGE. From October‐March, workshops are conducted at schools and after school programs –while the 12 Youth Festival Committee members design and curate the festival.
Wide Angle Youth Media is a 501c3 non‐profit that provides Baltimore youth with media education to tell their own stories and become engaged in their communities. Through after school programs, community events, our annual Youth Media Festival, and our youth‐run television show, Wide Angle strives to make media make a difference.

Friday February 25th!

Please join us, on Friday, Feb. 25th, from 4-5pm in the Meyerhoff Private Dining Room for an informational session about creating an Active Minds Student Chapter at MICA.

By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, Active Minds works to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community.

Active Minds aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health issues, and create a comfortable environment for an open conversation about mental health issues on campuses throughout North America.

Baltimore Open City.

An open city is a place where everyone feels welcome, regardless of such things as wealth, race or religion. In every neighborhood of an open city, one feels like he or she belongs. Does Baltimore feel open or does housing discrimination, bad public transportation, and the privatization of public space separate people and create an uneven distribution of opportunity? For the exhibition Baltimore Open City, students of Maryland Institute College of Art’s Exhibition Development Seminar invited scholars, activists, community- based organizations, local artists and visiting artist Damon Rich to create a series of installations, workshops and other public programs that investigate the ways in which Baltimore is and is not an open city. We welcome our neighbors to join us in exploring what an open city might look and feel like.
Call for Entries
At this time, Baltimore Open City would like to invite artists, designers, architects, educators, community groups and all other interested parties to participate in our exhibition. We are looking for people to contribute original and informative works of two- and three- dimensional art and design. The work submitted should be relevant to the idea of the “open” city in general and/or Baltimore specifically. Only finished work will be considered for acceptance.
Submission
Send your submission to info@baltimoreopencity.com with the subject line “Call for Entries.” In the body of your email, list the name(s) of the artist(s), an email address, the title of your submission, the medium (what it’s made out of), the date it was completed and the dimensions. Also include a short artist statement (a description of the submission and the ideas behind it) and a biography (a description of the artist/group that made the submission). Don’t forget to attach a photograph of your submission to the email.
Multiples
If your submission is a “multiple”—such as a zine, pamphlet or brochure—and is accepted for exhibition, you should deliver 100 copies by the delivery deadline and be prepared to produce more if necessary during the running time of the exhibition. Judging Submissions will be chosen for acceptance by the Maryland Institute College of Art students who are producing Baltimore Open City.
Insurance
Baltimore Open City is unable to provide insurance coverage for submissions while in transit or while on its premises for exhibition purposes.
DEADLINE FEB 26
