So I feel like I haven't been using this blog as well as I could be so here goes, my first ever narrative post. I hope I don't bore you! I've never blogged before (As is probably obvious from my usage of this space thus far) but I'm going to try and give you all weekly updates from here on out. If you hate them, let me down nicely. If you enjoy them let money rain from the heavens. Or, ya know, just keep coming back for more. For those of you interested in sharing your projects, experiences and/or thoughts about CAP let me know, I would love to share this page with all of you. Afterall it's a community thing.
So, This weekend we had our second CAP social of the semester and It. Was. Awesome. We played with kittens, ate pizza, and made mii's to play wii bowling. Two hours of Saturday afternoon bliss. We also talked about possibilities for our end of semester celebration activity (more on that momentarily). This was the last social of the semester but if you want to hang out with your fellow CAP interns this semester DON'T WORRY, there's still time!
I am hosting a movie night on December 5th from 4-7pm. In case you haven't heard, our last movie night was pretty great. We watched Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing", ate take-out food, and had a great discussion revolving around race. For those of you who know me even a little bit you know race based issues are something I'm VERY passionate about. So I have to say thank you for those students who attended the movie night and indulged me in the glorious conversation we had. I hope you got as much out of it as I did. (sidenote: if any of you are upset about missing that particular discussion topic or are interested in chatting about race/racism as it affects your CAP work, art work or just life in general do not hesitate to stop by my office).
Now, back to the celebration I mentioned above: I am currently planning an end of semester celebration. Will we go bowling? Have a party in the BBOX perhaps (maybe we can get a certain staff member to DJ?!)? Rollerskating? It's still up in the air but stay tuned for updates soon!
I know I feel like this semester has FLOWN by and quite frankly I'm having a little trouble with the fact that winter is just about here. I hope you are all coping with the speed of time and changing of seasons better than I seem to be. Additionally, I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving planned, be it here in Baltimore or elsewhere. I know I'm looking forward to caviar, noodle stuffing and pudding pie.
