We are looking for people to contribute original and informative works of two- and three- dimensional art and design. The work submitted should be relevant to the idea of the “open” city in general and/or Baltimore specifically. Only finished work will be considered for acceptance.
Submission
Send your submission to info@baltimoreopencity.com with the subject line “Call for Entries.” In the body of your email, list the name(s) of the artist(s), an email address, the title of your submission, the medium (what it’s made out of), the date it was completed and the dimensions. Also include a short artist statement (a description of the submission and the ideas behind it) and a biography (a description of the artist/group that made the submission). Don’t forget to attach a photograph of your submission to the email.

If your submission is a “multiple”—such as a zine, pamphlet or brochure—and is accepted for exhibition, you should deliver 100 copies by the delivery deadline and be prepared to produce more if necessary during the running time of the exhibition. Judging Submissions will be chosen for acceptance by the Maryland Institute College of Art students who are producing Baltimore Open City.

The results of the census directly affect funding for homeless outreach, housing, and service programs and guides federal and local homeless policy. Volunteers are needed to conduct surveys in the early morning hours of January 25, between 1:00 am and 6:00 am. Click here to register for a volunteer training. And finally an important message from our friends over at 901 Arts:
901 Arts is a non-profit arts organization that provides very low cost or free after-school programming for youth in the Better Waverly community in visual art and music. We host art classes for kids in 3rd through 8th grade Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30-6pm every week. For our upcoming semester of programming, we hope to include a variety of visiting artists during our art classes to expose the youth to different forms of art making, and to bring new people to our organization. We are extremely open to different mediums, and the kids love trying new things.
We are looking for artists interested in coming in for one or more art classes to show some of their own work to the class, and to teach a skill that you are particularly interested in. We also have a large open window used to display work, which could be a great opportunity for you to display your work along with the things made in the art class.
If this seems like something you may be interested in, please email me at cait.m.byrnes@gmail.com and we can talk more!
Thanks!
